Community Change Action to Host Virtual Press Conference Ahead of National Day Without Child Care

For Immediate Release:

Providers, parents, and grassroots organizers will speak on why they’re closing their doors and hosting actions on May 13 to call for a fully-funded childcare system

RSVP to virtual press conference here

Nationwide – On May 8, 2024, Community Change Action will host a press conference with providers, parents, and organizers speaking out ahead of our national Day Without Child Care. Our ongoing childcare crisis has only worsened since the industry hit the federal funding cliff back in September – and another cliff fast approaches with little federal action to cushion the blow. Many childcare providers have been forced to close their doors, reduce spots, or take significant pay cuts – and many families have been priced out of or lost access to care.

That’s why hundreds of providers, families, and allies will participate in Community Change Action’s 3rd annual National Day Without Child Care. The day of action will take place with events across the country on Monday, May 13, 2024 and we invite members of the media to attend a pre-event virtual press conference on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

The press conference will be moderated by Community Change Action Co-President Dorian Warren, and will include speakers who are hosting actions and closing down their doors. They will speak on the childcare deserts and budget squeezes they’re facing, and the grassroots organizing they’re doing to grow a national movement for a 21st century childcare system.

The Day Without Child Care website will be updated periodically with a full list of actions taking place across the country on May 13.
