We’re mobilizing low-income and working-class voters across 20 Congressional districts, putting childcare, healthcare, and economic freedom at the top of the ticket
Nationwide – On National Voter Registration Day, Community Change Voters, alongside grassroots partners in 11 states, is announcing the launch of our sweeping 2026 midterm voter program built to reach the low-income and working-class voters who have the power to decide the outcome of the elections.
Since taking office, the Trump administration and their enablers in Congress have made life harder for everyday people. They have pushed through deep cuts to Medicaid, the ACA, SNAP, childcare assistance, and other programs that keep working families well and thriving. Their escalated attacks on immigrant communities through ICE enforcement and masked federal agents in schools and on streets have separated millions of families.
While our communities struggle to fill their gas tanks, buy food, and pay the rent, Trump is focused on vanity projects, wars, and lining his—and his billionaire friends’—pockets. Community Change Voters’ program meets voters where they are—not with wonky political ads, but with real conversations between neighbors, loved ones, and community members on the issues that most affect their daily lives.
“Voters are looking for the off-ramp from an extreme administration, taken over by MAGA, that has made their lives harder and their futures less certain,” said Dorian Warren, Co-President of Community Change Action. “They want common-sense solutions that actually change the material conditions of their lives: Universal childcare, community-centered healthcare, direct cash assistance. People are ready to unite against those politicians in Washington who are cashing checks from the same billionaires raising our costs and profiting off cruel deportation machines.”
The program scales Community Change Voters’ years of electoral organizing experience into 20 targeted congressional districts — including eleven identified as flip opportunities — across North Carolina, Michigan, Maine, Nevada, Wisconsin, Ohio, Nebraska, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. It will strategically layer outreach to our target voters via phone, text and mail.
“People are tired of politicians getting richer while the rest of us work multiple jobs to make it to the end of the month,” said Franco Caliz-Aguilar, Executive Director of Community Change Voters. “Trump and the contemptible MAGA Republicans who bend to his every whim, have spent years ignoring the needs of the people they claim to represent. We can’t continue to live like this. Healthcare costs have spiraled, childcare costs as much as rent in many places and our neighbors are being kidnapped. Voters have had enough. We need solutions now.”
The 2025 off-year elections offered clear proof that voters are ready for something new. After low-income and working-class voters, young men, and Latino voters moved towards Republicans 2024,many swung back toward Democrats in 2025. Community Change Action’s 2026 program is built on the lesson that 2024 was not a permanent realignment — it was frustration at their lived experience — and that when voters have genuine conversations through people they trust and within their own communities, they show up.
Across the 20 target districts, Community Change Voters and its grassroots partners will layer three core issue campaigns into our voter program:
- Childcare: We will register and turn out parents and providers and make universal childcare a defining ballot-box question in every state. Any candidate who wants to be taken seriously must support universal childcare — and opposing it will be political poison. The work builds on our recent fifth annual Day Without Childcare and this summer’s first National Childcare Convention.
- Direct Cash Assistance: We’re reminding voters that they have the power to put candidates in office who recognize the economy is rigged against everyday people and support policies that level the playing field. Direct, no-strings attached cash puts the money and the power back in the people’s hands where it belongs. We’ll show up for candidates who support policies that give everyone more economic freedom.
- Health Equity: Access to quality, affordable healthcare is a top issue for voters this year, and we’re organizing to elect leaders who will expand healthcare access, fund our community hospitals and clinics, and put people’s wellness over corporate profits.
