THE MOVEMENT FOR A GUARANTEED INCOME
We all want to be able to care for ourselves
and our loved ones, and still have money left over to live a good life. But the reality is that the cost of everything is going up–from rent to groceries to child care–and too many families are struggling to make ends meet.
Too many of us have never had a chance to invest in ourselves, or our loved ones–we’re living paycheck to paycheck, unable to pursue what makes us happy or a more secure future.

A guaranteed income
is direct, no-strings-attached cash to those who need it most. Because sometimes when we need help, we just need cash to pay a bill, or cover food and transportation. We believe in a guaranteed income as part of the social safety net that is there to catch us when times get tough.
For too long, the people in power have cut through the safety net, leading too many to fall on hard times while the rich get richer.

We already know this works.
Chicago and Cook County already had successful guaranteed income pilot programs that provided participants with $500 a month. We can build on this success by building a movement a to fight for its continuation and expansion.
Over 400,000 Chicago and Cook County residents applied for the programs when they were available telling us everything we need to know! Too many people are in need, struggling to make ends meet.
Direct cash to the people is one solution that helps all of us thrive. When we have more money in our pockets, we spend it on basic needs like gas and groceries, pay off debt to build a stronger foundation for our families.

Too many of us across Chicago and Cook County are doing everything right and still can't catch a break. The cost of living keeps rising—groceries, rent, childcare, gas—and yet our paychecks stay the same. We're forced to make impossible choices and put our dreams on hold.
