Community Change Action’s Co-President Lorella Praeli issued the following statement in response:
“The choice before House members is clear: stand with the people–or stand with the billionaires who don’t need another tax break.
For months, we’ve warned that House Republicans are pushing an agenda that guts Medicaid and SNAP just to line the pockets of the ultra rich. Their plan could rip healthcare from millions, force rural hospitals to close, leave families without food, and deepen the pain in communities already fighting to survive.
Instead of cruelty, we need care. It’s time to invest in the basics–nutrition, healthcare, and support for children, seniors, families, who are being crushed by the rising cost of living.
It’s unconscionable for elected leaders to turn their backs on the people they were sent to serve. The public is watching and they’re demanding action. Right now, that action is to vote NO.”
