Mythbusting

❌ MYTH: We can’t afford universal childcare.

✅ TRUTH: Our economy already loses $172 billion every year to this childcare crisis. Billionaire wealth hit $18.3 trillion in 2025 — the same year Congress cut Medicaid, SNAP, and the Affordable Care Act. The question isn’t whether we can afford universal childcare — it’s whether billionaires should finally pay their fair share instead of hoarding wealth while families drown in bills.

❌ MYTH: Not my kid, not my problem.

✅ TRUTH: Our failing childcare system impacts everyone. Kids grow up to be our neighbors, coworkers, community members. Parents staff the hospitals, schools, and grocery stores we depend on. When families have what they need, our communities are stronger.

❌ MYTH: Immigrants will take advantage.

TRUTH: Immigrant providers have played a critical role in a system that is on the verge of collapse. Scapegoating immigrant providers is a racist distraction from the real crisis: politicians freezing funding and making life harder for families. Every child in our communities deserves access to early education regardless of where they come from.

❌ MYTH: This is government overreach.

✅ TRUTH: Parents and providers are leading this fight to build a system by families, for families — not politicians. Right now, most families have no real choice — they’re priced out of care or living in childcare deserts. Universal childcare gives families actual freedom to choose what works for them without breaking the bank.
